GØSPEL - SOMETHING 4U - TRACK REVIEW

 GØSPEL - Something 4U - Workwear

After a three year lay-off, the London duo return with new music that signals a different but no less engaging direction than their last EP Bodies. June saw the release of the lush dream-pop track Home which drifted pleasingly by in a somnabulist state, a hint at poppier things to come. Something 4U however is somewhat moodier and rhythmic and easily the superior of the songs offered so far in 2020. There's a neat guitar hook, layered harmonies and a trickle of reflective synths, all gently propelled by a semi-urgent beat that when enveloped by singer Beth Anderton-Allen's swoony and sweetly-trilled vocals, becomes the cherry on its own cake. In a just world, the slinky Something 4U would soundtrack your daily DAB switch-on, rather than yet another half-baked excuse for an anonymous generic pop song. You can buy this track by clicking here
