This week, after much hoo-hah, hype and histrionics from all and sundry, award-winning alt-rockers Arcade Fire finally unveiled their first new material in its entirety since 2010's The Suburbs. So, is it any good? Decide for yourself - we've popped the video up for you to watch below...
Essentially a lengthy epic of over seven minutes, Reflektor shares a similar footprint to bits of LCD Soundsystem, Talking Heads, Foals and David Bowie, as well as pieces from their own extensive musical imagination. It's spot-on. And the aforementioned Bowie lends his own recently-resurrected tonsils to the song - he appears at around the 4:45 mark, armed with that typical croon, before the whole thing builds into a sumptuous mid-tempo crescendo. 9/10.
I reckon the album will be another award-winning triumph, given the strength of this. Top video too. You can find an interactive version here: www.justareflektor.com
